Difficult years. The use of the telephone was regulated. Auxiliary exchanges were built in the bedrock. According to the terms of truce, Finland leased Porkkala for a period of 50 years to the Soviet Union.
During the war, auxiliary exchanges were built in the bedrock, backup connections were laid and storages were decentralised. The air raids in February 1944 caused severe damage to the line network: one of the bombs hit the Association's office building on Korkeavuorenkatu.
According to the terms of truce, a large part of exchanges and the line network of HPY's subsidiary, Uudenmaan Puhelin Oy, were left in the leased area of Porkkala.
In 1949, Keravan Puhelin Oy was merged into Helsinki Telephone Association.
