Radiolinja was the first operator in the world to open its GSM network.

19 September 1988

Oy Radiolinja Ab is founded as the first GSM operator in Finland.

27 March 1991

The world's first GSM phone call is made on Radiolinja's network.

1 July 1991

Radiolinja is the first operator in the world to open its GSM network.

10 January 1995

The GSM network of Radiolinja Eesti AS is opened in Estonia.

18 March 1999

Radiolinja is one of the four mobile operators in Finland which are granted a UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) licence.

April 2001

Radiolinja chooses Nokia and Siemens as the suppliers for the 3G network.

26 September 2001

Radiolinja launches the GPRS (General Packet Radio Services) network and services.

14 February 2002

Radiolinja and the international mobile operator Vodafone initiate a large-scale cooperation. The cooperation agreement with Vodafone is the first mobile operator agreement in Finland which is based on extensive commercial collaboration.

18 September 2002

Radiolinja launches its picture messaging service.
