BackElisa?s Rallimobiili service offers a new way to follow the Neste Oil Rally

Elisa has built the world’s first mobile service for following rallies: The Rallimobiili. The service will be in use this week as the 2009 Neste Oil Rally gets underway. With the help of the Rallimobiili service, spectators can get the latest results, read the most current news as well as peek behind the scenes at the teams and drivers in action, or even check out the atmosphere in the stands.
The legendary gravel-road Grand Prix, the Neste Oil Rally, will be driven on the demanding gravel roads of central Finland from 30 July to 2 August 2009. Now there’s a new way to keep pace with the latest results and news – through your mobile device. Cooperation between Elisa and AKK Sports on Rallimobiili started already a few years ago. The goal was to develop a service that would enhance the rally experience as well as offer a more varied service package to spectators.
- Keeping the Word Rally Championship series in Finland, explains Jarmo Mahonen, managing director of AKK Sports, means we have to ensure a fabulous atmosphere, provide quality event organisation and continuously develop spectator services.
A text message gets you started with the Rallimobiili
To start using the Rallimobiili service, send a text message with the word ?Ralli? to the number 16210. The service is available for use with all mobile devices. On phones with Web browsers, users can enjoy the richer Web-based content, such as photos and videos. As a Rallimobiili user, you get a maximum of 15 text message updates to your mobile each day of the rally. For those who have purchased a Rally Pass, the service is free of charge. For others, the price is five euros.
In addition to providing updates on special stages and the overall standings, the service helps rally spectators move from one stage to the next by informing them of last-minute changes to the viewing areas and driving directions published in the official programme. At the same time, up-to-date info about traffic back-ups and full parking lots is readily available, all of which makes following the rally that much easier for spectators.
