BackSaunalahti challenges other broadband suppliers in the capital area with price and speed

In the capital area Saunalahti decreased the prices for new ADSL subscriptions by up to 27%. With the price reform, Saunalahti aims to reinforce its standing in broadband competition in the capital region and to provide its existing customers with faster connections.
From 22 October 2009, new ADSL subscriptions have been sold at the new price in Elisa network areas in Helsinki, Espoo, Inkoo, Järvenpää, Karkkila, Kauniainen, Kerava, Kirkkonummi, Nurmijärvi, Nummi-Pusula, Sipoo, Siuntio, Tuusula, Vantaa and Vihti.
- We want to challenge other operators and provide our customers with even better services by making fixed broadband subscriptions available to even more people. Fixed broadband is the best option when a fast and reliable online connection, enduring the network load, is required for home use, says Turkka Koivu, Head of Department at Elisa Corporation.
- The capital region is an important market for us, and with the Saunalahti brand, we want to be strongly involved in the competition, says Koivu.
The speed of existing connections will increase
The existing customers of Saunalahti will also benefit from the reform, as the speed of existing subscriptions will increase, whereas the monthly prices will remain unchanged. The speed of 1 Mbit/s subscriptions will increase to 2 Mbit/s; the speed of 2 Mbit/s to 8 Mbit/s; and 8 Mbit/s to 24 Mbit/s. The broadband speeds will increase during November. Customers will be notified of the speed changes in more detail in October and November. The speed change also applies to fixed-term subscriptions.
