BackElisa has packaged enjoyment into a single service

Elisa provides consumers with the opportunity to enjoy entertainment in a new way. The Elisa Viihde IPTV service is a combination of television viewing, an exceptionally large capacity for programmes, and personal video rental. In the service, it is also easy to record TV programmes by using a mobile phone.
Elisa Viihde is an entertaining, easy-to-use service, combining television watching, programme recording, film rental and top-speed broadband access. Initially, the service will be available in the Uusimaa region and part of the Tampere region.
- So far, home entertainment offerings have been scattered, whereas Elisa wants to provide the service as one package. The focus of the new service is on the easiness and usability of the service itself, says Mikael Rönnblad, Director, Service Business at Elisa.
Elisa Viihde is an easy-to-use service package which does not require any particular IT skills. The service includes a digital receiver, 2,500 hours of online storage space for TV programmes, a personal video rental, a top-speed broadband subscription and regular Internet services.
- Otherwise, the Elisa Viihde service functions like any other digital receiver but programmes are stored online where there is a storage capacity of an abundant 2,500 hours, which works out at over 100 days of TV programmes. You can record programmes on all the basic channels at the same time. If the user is not near his or her television set, he or she can schedule the recording online or by mobile phone, says Rönnblad.
The Elisa Viihde service connects to the Internet via the broadband connection. Besides a television set, you can view your recorded programmes on a computer. With the personal video rental, you can rent over 1,000 films directly via your television set. The video library offers classics and new items every weeks. Rental fees are charged on the customer's monthly bill.
- The Elisa Viihde service package is easy to adopt. Its broadband connection includes a ready-protected wireless connection, complete with firewall. Remote management and settings of the service-related broadband connection are easy to take care of on the Internet, says Kirsi Valtari, service director at Elisa.
At the first phase, the Elisa Viihde service will be available in the following locations: Helsinki, Espoo, Inkoo, Järvenpää, Karkkila, Kauniainen, Kerava, Kirkkonummi, Nurmijärvi, Nummi-Pusula, Sipoo, Siuntio, Tuusula, Vantaa and Vihti, as well as in selected locations in the Tampere region.
