BackElisa deploys the largest virtual meeting system in Finland

Elisa has expanded its TelePresence meeting service to nationwide use. The system now covers Pasila, Tali and Sörnäinen in Helsinki, as well as Joensuu, Jyväskylä, Kokkola, Tampere, Ruka and Tallinn. This means that Elisa's system is the largest in Finland. TelePresence substantially increases productivity and efficiency, while introducing significant savings for Elisa.
Based on Cisco technology, the TelePresence virtual meeting system is a service which utilises the latest in audiovisual technology and enables participants' virtual presence regardless of their physical location. The high-quality screens and audio create the impression that the other party is at the same table, despite the distance.
The system is used for meetings, training, and sessions with customers, suppliers and interest groups. Besides time and cost savings, the utilisation of virtual meeting services decreases carbon dioxide emissions caused by travelling.
- TelePresence is a key part of Elisa employees' daily work and we are further expanding the use of the system. As a result of the TelePresence virtual meeting solution, this year we have saved a total of 2,083 round trips, over 5,100 work hours and about 76,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions. Besides the significant cost savings, productivity has improved, as time has been released for other purposes, says Pasi Mäenpää, Executive Vice President, Corporate Customers at Elisa.
Turnkey service
Elisa provides the TelePresence solution to customers as a turnkey service, which means that customers need not make any equipment investments.
Besides companies, Elisa builds virtual meeting services and applications for the healthcare and education sectors, too. This is an excellent concept for taking care of public services in sparsely populated areas, for example.
