BackElisa implements its ICT strategy through two corporate acquisitions
Press release on 13 February 2009
In a transaction completed on 13 February 2009, eQ Oyj has sold the entire share capital of the hosting service provider Xenetic Inc. to Elisa Corporation.
Established in 2000, Xenetic Inc. is a leading Finnish hosting service company, the business of which consists of computer room/monitoring/control/data communications/data security services and equipment and application leasing.
Xenetic’s turnover for 2008 was EUR 5.6 million, and the company has 24 employees. Xenetic Inc. will continue to carry out its operations as an Elisa subsidiary wholly-owned by Elisa, and Jari Puhakka will continue as the company’s CEO. The deal has no significant effect on Elisa's financial performance in 2009. The sale price of the share capital, together with the company commitments the buyer has received, totals EUR 6.3 million.
Elisa implements its strategy in a determined manner and strengthens its position as an ICT operator. The purpose of the deal is to introduce Xenetic's high-quality customer-specific hosting services as part of the offering Elisa supplies to corporate customers. In addition, the deal will further strengthen Elisa's position in the growing Software as a Service market.
- Xenetic’s data centre architecture and processes provide a strong basis for the production of on-demand services for Elisa's corporate customers. Combining it with Elisa’s data communications and SaaS services, and Electur’s technology consulting, which we acquired last summer, we are able to build a superior package. Our customers will receive all ICT services from one operator in a flexible and cost-efficient way, without having to make their own investments, says Satu Kiiskinen, Elisa’s Service Offering Director.
In a business deal signed on 6 February 2009, Elisa has also acquired the asset management and logistics system business of Trackway Oy. As a result of the deal, three Trackway employees will transfer to Elisa as existing employees.
- The Trackway business introduces a ready-made concept and application platform to Elisa’s Corporate Customers‘ Production Solutions. Our objective is to expand this platform to also serve other positioning and asset management technologies, such as sensor networks. For us, this is a natural extension of our current M2M range and provides a strong service package which will take Elisa Production Solutions even closer to customers’ core processes, says Satu Kiiskinen.
