BackPress release: Elisa launches new Traxmeet virtual training world

Elisa has launched Traxmeet, a sports service developed in collaboration with professional trainers. Traxmeet is an Internet-based service providing training support, virtual contests and access to an online sports community. The Traxmeet service and the sports computer it comes with are available for a monthly fee at www.traxmeet.com.
With the Internet-based training service Traxmeet users can analyze their athletic performance in an accurate, clear and fun way. The sports computer collects and saves data on the users’ training performance, thus enabling them to follow the development of their fitness levels.
To support individual training and performance analysis, Traxmeet also offers personal training by top trainers. Users choose their preferred professional trainer, do a fitness test, define their goals and based on this information, the trainer creates a personalized 6-week training program for them. During the program the trainer tracks the user’s performance and gives guidance through the Traxmeet service.
In addition to the training service, Traxmeet allows the user to access a sports community through which they may find new training friends and locations. The user can also use the saved results to enter fun virtual contests that give the user further information on his or her fitness and performance in comparison to other users.
Traxmeet can be used widely in sports and fitness, especially in outdoor sports such as running, biking, cross-country skiing, rollerblading, orienteering and Nordic walking.
Functions with a sports computer and an Internet connection
Performance data is uploaded into the Traxmeet service by means of a sports computer. At the moment the service works with FRWD devices. Their GPS sensors record the users’ route, location, speed and distance, as well as the heart rate, altitude, temperature and air pressure during the training. After each training session the data is transferred to the Traxmeet web service (www.traxmeet.com), where the user can relive the experience.
In the near future the service will also be compatible with Polar and Suunto products and in the long term Traxmeet plans to link in with as many sports computer manufacturers as possible.
